Tartan’s strongly defined pattern is built from intersecting lines of colours (thread counts), which can interpret significant information about its membership. Each band of colour is created from the number of threads identifying special dates, accomplishments and milestones.
Boston Bruins 100th Anniversary
The Boston Bruins®, one of the "Original Six" © NHL teams, and the first American team to join the © NHL, played its first game on December 1, 1924. The Bruins team is the oldest actively playing © NHL
team in the USA. The Bruins have won six Stanley Cup® Championships.

Canadian Football League
The Grey Cup is Canada's largest annual sports and television event, with the first Grey Cup being held on December 4, 1909. The 110th Grey Cup is scheduled for November 19, 2023, at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.
The CFL was officially named on January 19, 1958, and we have used these significant dates as the thread counts (width of lines within the tartan) 01-19-19-58 to tell their story.

Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta Hawks were one of the original franchises of the National Basketball Association (NBA) when the league was established in 1949 winning a championship in 1958. We have used these thread count dates within the lines of the tartan.
Heritage of Halifax
The colours of Heritage of Halifax tartan depict some of the beloved icons of our beautiful city. Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, was founded on June 21st, 1749. The magnificent harbour that lay before the Settlers as they landed, offered boundless opportunity for both defence on the Eastern coast of the country, fishing, ship building, and hopes of a bright future.
The blue represents the ocean that surrounds 3/4 of the province.
The green is symbolic of our extraordinary park, that is situated in the south end of the city. Point Pleasant Park Spans 75 hectares, is leased to the city for 1 shilling a year with a 999-year lease.
The white is representative of the town clock that sits a top the downtown core. It was originally built in 1803 to resolve tardiness by the Royal Navy .
The fine pink line represents the Halifax Public gardens. It was officially opened to the public in 1867, in what was then, the Center of the city. To this day, it is used daily by young and old alike.
The gray represents our substantial naval base on the Halifax waterfront. Canadian Forces Base Halifax is the home base of the Royal Canadian Navy Atlantic fleet and is the largest Canadian Forces base in terms of the number of posted personnel.
The gold line is symbolic of the spectacular sunsets that shine down our harbour. With its size, 2nd largest natural harbour in the world, it is a sight to behold.
Mayflower Tartan
In 1620 a small group of English emigres sailed across the Atlantic in search of a better life. Their daring voyage aboard Mayflower is part of the founding history of the United States. A second Mayflower was constructed in Devon, England and sailed in 1957 to the same harbor where the Pilgrims landed centuries earlier.
Mayflower’s story is woven into every thread of this beautiful tartan. It features the colors of Mayflower II – blue, red, green and beige, along with dark blue for the ocean. A special thread count of 16-20-19-57 represents the years that the two historic ships sailed from England to Massachusetts.
